ABOUT US
Book for Mountain is a community which consists of young creative student from Indonesia. This community initiated from a social work of Universitas Gadjah Mada from July to August 2010.
On that time, our project was on Mt Rinjani, in East Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat. We were stimulated to answer the necessity of children library in remote area. Children in remote area have problem to access some information. They could not get books to improve their curiosity and creativity.
Based on that problem, we decided to build a community, named “Book for Mountain”.
We wish through this community, we could support the education of elementary school student in Indonesia, particularly in mountain and remote area from Sabang to Merauke. We focused in facilitate the informative book, rather than text book. Such as, biography, encyclopedia, geography, etc.
One of our programs called “I want book” has been support the various libraries in remote area and disaster area. Through this program, Book for Mountain challenges to invite the children to love book in a much more comfortable way and help them to decide and grab their future.
